Tanzania: Dar es Salaam Committed to Improved Ties With Chinese Investors

THE government has reaffirmed its commitment to work with Chinese investors in Tanzania for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The acting Executive Director of Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Mr Raymond Mbilinyi, said that the government through the agency will continue to improve investment climate in Tanzania to enable Chinese investors and others to succeed in their businesses and investment ventures in the country.
Mr Mbilinyi who was speaking during the 'Security and Investment in Tanzania' conference in Dar es Salaam over the weekend that involved Chinese investors, said the government of Tanzania is committed to strengthen the historical relations between the two countries through promoting investment opportunities.
"If improved, these (investment and business) are the areas that can bind us together and mutually develop the people of both countries," he said. The workshop on security and investment development was jointly prepared by the Chinese Business Chamber of Tanzania (CBCT) and TIC to further the cooperation between CBCT and various departments of the Tanzanian government.

mainly by Chinese investors in Dar es Salaam, attracted participants from various government agencies such as police force, immigration and labour departments. Mr Mbilinyi thanked President Jakaya Kikwete for strengthening relationship with one of the strongest economies in the world and also called upon Chinese investors to put emphasis on manufacturing and real estate sectors, because these areas have the potential to produce a lot of employment.
"We encourage joint investments with Tanzanians," Mr Mbilinyi said, adding that if Chinese investors will follow laws and regulations, their businesses will go on smoothly. The CBCT Chairman, Mr Janson Huang said the Chinese people will always cherish the friendship with Tanzania and will demonstrate their sincerity, via concrete actions like employing local staff and supporting charity undertakings.
Mr Huang said personal security is very important for smooth running of business and proposed the establishment of Tanzania Chinese Community and Police Cooperation Centres, where dedicated Chinese staff shall work together with Tanzania police in solving daily security matters.
He requested the Tanzanian government to have a simpler and more effective process in reviewing, validating and issuing permits to greatly improve their cooperation with Tanzania.
