Tanzania: 32 Countries Confirm DITF Participation

THE 37th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair will have a special pavilion for products from Tanzania and 32 countries have confirmed participation.
Likewise, the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) has said that this year's ticketing will be done electronically.
The Acting Director General, Ms Jacqueline Maleko, whose speech was read on her behalf by the Acting Director for External Trade, Ms Anna Bulondo, said 32 countries have confirmed participation compared to 11 that participated last year.
She attributed the larger international participation to Tantrade's extensive advertisement and removal of huddles in the whole process of acquiring space for exhibitions.
Addressing exhibitionists attending a one day seminar on laws and regulations of participating at the trade fair, which starts on 28th June to 8th July this year, Ms Maleko said more than 400 international companies and 1, 600 local companies will participate in this year's trade fair (DITF).
Ms Maleko explained that since DITF became a member of the Unione Federation Internationale, the Global Association for the Exhibition Industry, DITF has increasingly been accepted internationally and its standards have also gone up.
"This can be seen in the increasing number of countries that have confirmed participation; we have also improved the process of applying to participate in the trade fair making it easier. We will also be using electronic ticketing machines," she said.
This year, she explained, Tanzania will have its own pavilion showcasing different products from the country, instead of being in different pavilions. "Efforts to prepare the special pavilion for Tanzanian products were done by Tantrade in collaboration with UNIDO and other different stakeholders in the trade and industry sector," she explained.
She added that there will also be a special pavilion for honey products from all regions of the country, saying that the idea was also supported by Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda, who officiated during a special honey exhibition in later years' trade fair.
Countries that will participate include South Africa, Australia, Belarua, Brazil, Denmark, Ghana, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Egypt, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Rwanda and Singapore.
Others are South Korea, Burundi, China, Sudan, Syria, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Speaking with the 'Daily News' at the DIFT grounds Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) Sales and Marketing Manager, Ms Christina Geleja, said the seminar is important in reminding participants of laws and regulations governing the exhibitions.
She said TSN in this year's trade fair will focus on exhibiting and promoting its latest addition; SpotiLeo and Online opportunities for advertisements as well as capturing new customers and receiving feedback from old customers. TSN publishes Daily News, Sunday News, HabariLeo, HabariLeo Jumapili and SpotiLeo.
